Our Story

The Joint Eatery is a dual concept located in Sherman Oaks owned and operated by former Boba Truck founder Liwei Liao. This new space marries everyday cafe coffee and tea with seafood favorites and brings local flavor into these everyday cuisine.

This notion brings together our deepest passions: coffee/tea and seafood. This first which started Liwei's career—and seafood, which has been a lifelong obsession. Inspired by his father from childhood, fishing had become more than just a hobby. For us, there is no greater joy than being able to catch a fish and share it together at the dinner table. Over the years, we have developed a deep philosophy and great respect for how our catch of day translates to the table.



What We Offer

The Joint's café will serve hand-crafted drinks brewed from specialty coffee beans and premium tea leaves from around the world while the restaurant will offer classic seafood dishes, a raw bar, as well as local wines and craft beers. 

The adjoining seafood market will offer fresh fish, shellfish, and live crustaceans, carefully selected from local fishmongers. Seasonal delicacies and exotic imports from around the world will also be available, making The Joint the neighborhood’s premier locale for avid home cooks in search of high-quality, sustainable options.



Our Space

The Joint’s industrial-chic 4,000 square-foot interior will house approximately 70 seats and feature an outdoor patio seating area, complete with farm-style benches, chairs and tables. All of these pieces were designed and hand built on-site by Founder Liwei Liao using 150-year-old reclaimed old growth lumber.
